Meridian DesignBuild, Ltd. was established in 2005 when Founder & President, Joe Balich, brought his passion for building to Charlotte, NC. He saw the need for a construction company that paired high-quality construction with genuine client care.

Over the years, Meridian has continued to serve families across the greater Charlotte area with the same commitment to integrity, quality, and thoughtful design. Every project reflects our belief that a home can be renewed with care, intention, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

Meet The Founder

Joe Balich — Founder & President

Joe began his career as a carpenter, spending his early years working in Boston’s historical renovation community — experience that shaped his attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and respect for the craft. He became a licensed General Contractor in North Carolina in 1992 and in South Carolina in 1994, carrying that foundation into every project he leads today.

Before founding Meridian, Joe owned and operated Integrity Builders, Inc. in Charlotte, which he sold in 2001 — a chapter that helped establish his long-standing relationships and reputation in the community. He served as President of the NARI Charlotte Chapter and later as a member of the Chapter Board of Directors.

Joe’s favorite part of the renovation process is collaborating with homeowners to create spaces that function beautifully and stand the test of time. He’s known for steady leadership, practical decision-making, and an ability to resolve structural and functional challenges with creativity and clarity.

Clients describe Joe as knowledgeable, relatable, and deeply committed to doing things the right way — the first time. His approach is grounded in integrity, transparency, and a genuine desire to guide and protect homeowners throughout every step of their project.

Outside of work, Joe and his wife, Megan, have five children and are active in their local church and community.
